Structure and Materials of Spout Pouches

The structure of a spouted pouch consists of two main components: the spout and the stand-up pouch. The spout assembly can be likened to a standard bottle neck fitted with a straw and a screw cap.

While the stand-up pouch section shares the same basic construction as a standard four-side-seal stand-up pouch, it typically utilizes composite materials to meet specific food packaging requirements. These multi-layer composite materials generally include: BOPA (nylon, providing puncture and drop resistance), PET (polyester, offering rigidity and printability), AL (aluminum foil) or a high-barrier film (to block oxygen and light, thereby protecting the contents), and specialized PE (polyethylene, ensuring heat-seal strength and compatibility with the spout material). The core technical challenge lies in the "dissimilar material welding" between the spout (rigid plastic) and the pouch body (flexible film).

To ensure a secure seal and prevent leakage, a multi-stage heat-sealing process is employed during production; precise control of heat-sealing pressure and temperature is used to achieve a robust bond between the two components.
